Hey Frank, your HTML is broken in Firefox. The right-side bar pushed the main content off the screen to the left without so much as a scrollbar. All I can read of the title of this page is "or TODO list 2012".

Hi,

I thought about Kassler, too. I'm living in the more civilized parts of Bavaria but I couldn't find it yet. I will be busy this week, making food for next week. I just started another batch of Salmon and will run at least one batch of sausages, some bananas and perhaps some apples. Fortunately the dehydrator is not noisy and I can keep it running over night.

I would try using "Kassler" or slices of roasted pork. They both do not contain much fat so they should dry nicely. why don't you buy them already in thin slices at a butcher. Makes dehydrating even easier.
Vegetables: have tried peppers and cherry tomatoes( store bought ones are often too salty)

Thanks. The salmon jerky is my favorite so far, too. Ripped into smaller pieces it's a great addon to home-made trail food.

I'll test both things in the next time. The salomon jerky looks pretty good like fish chips

Hi Frank,
I think you emailed me about this. I am the creator of GearGrams and I wanted to let you know that this is no longer true and passwords are now hashed.

However, users should not take my word for it because there is no way you can be sure of this. This is also true for every site on the web and this is why you should always use different passwords for every site.

GearGrams is a hobby of mine. I enjoy using it myself and interacting with everyone else who finds it useful. But like me, no one should ever store sensitive data (including passwords) on GearGrams. Again, this is true for most any site on the internet. Be careful with your personal information.

Thanks for contacting me and feel free to request other changes.

Alan, I think I have to revise a few passages if that's the impression I'm leaving. I really enjoyed the challenge. And from what I have heard, I was extremely lucky with the weather. I rushed because every time I called challenge control I heard horror stories about the upcoming weather. So I thought that I should walk on as long as it's not pouring...

I'm not sure when, but I think I will be back for another challenge...

Hmmm. From reading your blog it sounds like you didn't have a lot of fun? Perhaps if you had eased off a little you wouldn't have had so many aches & pains and you also would have met a lot more cheery Challengers to brighten up your day.

Will you be coming back for another crack at it, Frank?

[...] Only the first 2 hours were recommended in my guide because it gets more difficult later on. I haven’t done a Klettersteig in 2 years and wasn’t sure how to handle these difficulties so I decided to follow the recommendations. The nice thing about this tour was that the most difficult parts were at the beginning. But even these bits were not exceptionally difficult, roughly 3 grades below what I can climb indoors and only a bit more difficult than what I had climbed up to Buchstein “free solo”.
I can also recommend GPS Tracks.

After my visit to England my GPS was messed up on my Motorola Defy and I managed to reset it - after much hassle in finding out how - with GPS Status. The app is free, however I was so happy about having GPS again I promptly bought the donation version.
